NHP and CHP Cooperative Upfitting

The CHP had a freeze on enforcement vehicle purchases, and their legendary upfitting facility would soon be idled. The NHP was looking for a single standardized way to upfit their Ford PI Utility. Having the CHP build the first order of NHP vehicles would help the CHP retool for their coming PI Utility and provide the NHP with state-wide identical vehicles. This is an example of excellent interagency cooperation.

The police PI Sedan is not a retail Taurus when it comes to tech training. The police PI Utility is not a retail Explorer when it comes to tech training. Both are a 30-year jump in technology over—and nothing like—the Ford CVPI. There is no substitute for hands-on training.

Charger Tech Training: The Two-Day Basic Course

The no charge, in-house Dodge Charger Technician Training is available at host police and sheriffs departments running larger fleets of Chargers. The course works for all fleet personnel from the fleet manager to the maintenance and repair technician. The tech training covers the V6 and V8 Charger, and the RAM / Durango SSV…and now the All-Wheel Drive Charger.

Carol Stream Justifies V8

The Carol Stream Police went about their evaluation of the replacement for the Ford CVPI like many departments. However, they took this a step further than most departments by factoring the residual value into their overall assessment. And they got a V8 that paid for itself over a V6.
