Previous generations of police officers had limited choices when it came to selecting their duty sidearm. Old timers simply chose between a Smith & Wesson or Colt revolver chambered in 38 Special. Today, police officers and departments that issue duty guns have an abundance of choices compared to the “one size fits all” mentality from yesteryear when selecting a modern duty pistol.

The M&P Pro Series has two major improvements over the basic M&P pistols. First, the Pro Series uses a Novak® green fiber-optic front sight and a Novak® Reduced Glare rear sight. Second, the S&W Performance Center adds a different sear, and polishes the trigger group. This much lighter trigger pull also has less slack than the basic M&P pistol and a much shorter trigger reset distance.
