The LAPD uses Chevy Tahoes as command area vehicles and for patrol. LAPD upfits the Tahoes with a variety of vendor equipment, including products from Setina and Federal Signal. The LAPD is mindful of officer safety as well as space limitations with two-officer patrol units.

Ford continues to expand their presence in the police vehicle market with both a 365 hp, turbocharged V6 for the PI Utility, and a 240 hp, turbocharged I4 in a brand-new, non-pursuit admin package for the full-size PI Sedan. Both the PI Utility and PI Sedan taken together, Ford has nearly half of the police market.

In 2012, Dodge teamed up with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on a pilot project to take the mobile office to the next level of officer safety, ergonomics and efficiency. Nicknamed the Big Screen, the 12.1-inch diagonal measure Integrated Display Screen is mounted right in the center of the instrument panel and will be available on the mid-2016 Charger.
