The Sig Sauer Model 516 patrol rifle uses a short-stroke gas pushrod action with a four-position gas valve. It is chambered in 5.56 x 45mm NATO. The rifle uses a 16-inch, 1-in-7-inch twist, free-floating military grade chrome-lined bore and chamber barrel. It has a M1913 Picatinny flat top upper, a 7075-T6 Aircraft grade aluminum upper and lower receiver with hard-coat anodized finish and flip-up iron sights.
