Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Tribal Police
Manistee, MI
This 18-member department is charged with protecting visitors to the Little River Casino, a Native American casino located in Manistee, MI. “At 44,000 square feet, it is one of the largest casinos in the state,” noted Bill Ricard of Nye Uniform. “It was therefore important to have a look that provided instant recognition, functionality and comfort. After going over the options, we helped them select the garments and fabrics that would best suit their needs.”
The department has summer and winter uniforms, as well as specialized wear for emergency and K-9 patrols. Supervisors’ uniforms are accented with gold trim, while silver is used for rank and file. Little River’s written uniform specifications are established by its director of public safety, who ensures that inspections are held daily. Either a campaign or baseball hat is used, depending on assignment. A light blue stripe appears on the trousers of all officers, and this is worn with a dark blue shirt and jacket. Blue ties and black footwear complete the look. Manufacturers for this program include Blauer and Horace Small.
