Mobile data terminals or laptops are standard equipment in today’s police vehicles. As a result, fleet managers need a secure and reliable mounting solution. The new RAM MDT-Mate™ is an ideal solution for mounting MDTs in a variety of vehicles. Modular and interchangeable, this new product line easily integrates into RAM’s full line of No-Drill™ vehicle base products and RAM Tough-Box™ consoles. The No-Drill steel laptop bases are custom formed to fit specific vehicle models. Using the front bench or passenger side seat rail bolts as attachment points, existing hardware in the vehicle is all that is required to secure these bases. If needed, additional hardware is supplied.
The Tough-Box console is made of rugged materials but is lightweight in design. It is molded for ergonomics and safety. The absence of sharp edges and corners ensures occupant safety and provides a state-of-the-art appearance. Molded faceplates incorporate tongue and groove details to prevent contamination of electronics from dust and dirt falling through the cracks.
This also integrates all the combined faceplates together as a unit to provide more strength while preventing lost cards, licenses and paperwork. High quality materials and finish ensure a long product life and corrosion resistance backed by the NPI lifetime warranty.
The modular design allows for almost unlimited installation options, with 9-inch, 13-inch, 17-inch and 21-inch models available. Additional features include several knockout panels on each side for 12V or cigarette adaptors; large openings with smooth radii at each end of the console, providing tunnel pass-through for trouble-free wiring; and a microphone hole and slot pattern available on both the passenger and driver side of the console.
Other features include molded and stamped mounting holes that allow for ease of assembly and installation; mounting holes in the bottom of the console which work with all other manufacturers; top plates; compatibility with RAM 1/2-inch and 1-inch pedestal systems; tough, rigid die cast interlocking faceplates; and absence of welds to break. The new RAM Twist-Lock™ feature allows for quick access to radios or switches, making installation, change-outs or repairs simple.
The MDT-Mate mounting solution is one of the most versatile of its kind. Single or double keyboard mounting swing arms and easy grip knobs allow the mount to be adjusted to achieve optimal performance, operating and stowing positions. Regardless of the mounting location, this system is comfortable to use and provides excellent viewing angles.
Designed to support a display at or near the center of the vehicle dash, the MDT-Mate system provides 5 inches of total offset from the MDT mounting surface. Mounted electronics can be positioned where they are needed most—not simply where the mount allows. RAM’s design makes it possible for the operator to safely and efficiently access equipment mounted in the dash behind the MDT.
The new 8-inch flanged upper Tele-pole™ enables optimized positioning, giving installers the freedom to choose the configuration best suited to the vehicle being upfitted. The RAM MDT-Mate includes pre-drilled holes to add RAM mounting bases, enabling the installation of additional devices, keyboards, printers or other peripherals. Integrated cable management ensures the installer can safely route all associated cables to avoid any safety or operational concerns.
