Department Name:

Weber County Sheriff's Office

Department Head:
Sheriff Terry L. Thompson

Location:
Ogden, UT

Description:
This is our drug awareness car that we built specific to our office for assistance with educating kids about the dangers of drug use; we have discovered that all kids young & old alike enjoy it! We teach a program of instruction called NOVA- Nurturing, Opportunities, Values, Accountability, with a curriculum that teaches kids to make good well rounded choices in life. Our Mustang has been an excellent public relations success and we take it to many parades, car shows, and other events by request as well as our schools. Some photos are from a day at the race track for national circuit professional superbike races at our local raceway. Other photos are in a parking lot after a parade and another from the Utah Autorama in Salt Lake City. It is a 1965 Ford Mustang that was donated to our office for the specific purpose of building a drug awareness car (needing full restoration) and local businesses donated all of the resources to complete the car. It has been extremely popular and well received by our Weber County community. This was my personal project with help from staff on drug awareness messages. I spent a considerable amount of time on choosing the color but finally settled on green since we are the Sheriff's Office- and people love it! It has great audio and a tremendous red/blue emergency lighting system including up underneath and really ignites in low light. Thanks!
