Sweetwater Police Department
Chief Brian Frieda
For the past several years the patrol division of the Sweetwater, Texas Police Department was operating with a basic white patrol unit. Graphics for these units were selected from a national company, and represented no input from or ties to the community. A decision was made by command staff to change to a black and white patrol unit with locally designed graphics to portray a more professional appearance. Department personnel believed a black and white color scheme presents a tie with other agencies, and historically represents police service. The Chief of Police requested input from all department personnel, and working with a local vendor began putting together different color schemes and graphics. The selected package represents to officers and citizens a clear easily recognized patrol unit. Prominently displayed on each front quarter panel is a depiction of the department challenge coin which incorporates the department badge. Displayed on each rear quarter panel is the wording "Remember 911". This represents not only the national emergency number, but also the events of September 11, 2001.
