The 1966 Ford Custom was chosen by the Deputy Sheriffs Association to build as a department show car. The vehicle represents the first vehicle purchased by the State/County for officers. Up until 1966, officers were providing their own vehicles and were paid mileage. Many members of the Department, County mechanics and citizens helped to complete this vehicle. Purchased in 2005 by the Deputy Sheriff's Association Started the rebuild in 2006 Finished in 2008 The car has: 1986 Ford 460ci engine Ford C6 transmission 69 Ford LTD Front Disc Brakes Power Brakes Power Steering Dual Exhaust 16" Ford CVPI Wheels New Gas Tank Correct period emergency light, siren, and two way radio. The emergency equipment was salvaged from the former Sheriff's Office complex. The radio was donated by a former Deputy who had retained it when it had been scrapped. This vehicle is used with the school programs, parades, and other department functions.
