Department Name:

Rifle Police department

Department Head:
Chief John Dyer

Location:
Rifle, CO

Description:
This design was selected in honor of the centennial of Rifle, Colorado, in 2005. The town name originated from a rifle left against a tree by what is now Rifle Creek. The symbol of the rifle is a point of pride for the residence of Rifle. The black and white color scheme was used as an easily identifiable Police vehicle. The rifle itself, as well as the large POLICE on the side, is made from reflective material, and is very easily seen at night. My understanding is that it was designed by department personnel. The design is unique, and tied to the community as it is a very clear reflection of the town we live in. This is a long time ranching community and proud of its heritage. These Police vehicles are very identifiable and a point of pride for the community.
