Exeter Police Department
Chief Clifton Bush
Our department has traditionally driven all white patrol cars and until recently our officers drove Ford Crown Vic’s that were badly in need of replacement. During the tough financial times facing many cities over the past years our city opted not to replace patrol cars in favor of saving jobs. Great choice however this left many of our officers driving cars with well over 140,000 miles. In 2013 the city council approved a request to purchase ten new patrol cars. At that time we as a department decided it was a good opportunity to rebrand ourselves. We started with all black Ford Interceptors in the SUV platform. We added grey graphics. We also carried the silver and black theme further by changing our uniform and patch design as well. The boost to employee morale has been huge. One of the best benefits that I have seen is the one tone interactions between the officers and the public as the public comes up to talk about the new cars.
