Description:
I started as Chief for the Pinckney PD in April of 2012. The PPD has been using the prior design since the late 90’s. I felt the change in leadership required a new design for our cars. We used Ford CV’s before and this design enhances the Charger’s natural body contours. The color scheme was decided so that the cars design would reflect a “business only” attitude, rather than a “hey look at me” design. We used reflective tape on the word “Police” only. We felt that people need to know what this car is, but still maintain a low profile since it doubles as a patrol / traffic enforcement vehicle. I created the primary design and then looked to my personnel for input. Some of the design and color scheme was changed / improved as we discussed it with the graphics company. The two-tone black over silver is unique to almost any other police car. The matte black matches all of the factory black equipment on the car: grille, handles, etc. The scheme also saved on cost. Pinckney is a very working-class community. I think this cars low key design / color scheme keeps with that “business only” working class feel. The two tone color scheme is what makes this car unique. The matching matte black with the factory flat black makes the whole design work and come together.
