Shirley Police Department
Chief of Police J. Gregory Massak
Chief Massak decided that the paint scheme in the department's cruiser needed a change. For the past 20 plus years, our cruiser design was the typical white cruiser with a blue stripe down the side of the car, similar to the Boston, Massachusetts Police Department.
Chief Massak decided to change to the current paint scheme and design because no one in the Central Massachusetts area has this current design. The chief wanted to go with a different look and did not want to go with the traditional black & white color scheme that a lot of departments in the area are using.
The chief put out the design and it was posted in the patrolman's room for about two weeks, and officers were asked about their suggestions and if any changes needed to be made to the design and it was unanimously chosen and no changes were made.
I believe it’s a simple yet functional design that stands out. The design is very reflective in the night time which is a plus for officer safety.
