Department Name:

The Yarmouth Police Department

Department Head:
Chief Frank G. Frederickson

Location:
West Yarmouth, MA

Description:
In July 2012, the first new patrol cruisers for the Yarmouth Police Department in several years arrived and began patrolling the streets of Yarmouth. These new cruisers are part of the new generation of police vehicles that will be phased in over the next three years and are the first of their kind to be placed on duty on Cape Cod. The new police cruisers are the highly rated Ford Motor Company Police Interceptors which were purchased through a state bid process and feature a fuel efficient V6 flex fuel engine with an all wheel drive power train as well as heavy duty braking, steering, cooling, and electrical systems, and overall improvements in officer protection through structural integrity and personal safety system enhancements and a purpose built interior. The All-Wheel-Drive System manages the power to meet the rigorous demands of 24/7 law enforcement use and gives our Police Officers the confidence they need to respond to all emergencies in any weather condition. Back in March, the students of our three elementary schools were asked for their input on the selection of a new cruiser graphics design and these new cruisers feature the design chosen by the children of Yarmouth for the future of the Yarmouth Police Department. The women and men of the Yarmouth Police Department look forward to using these new vehicles and deeply appreciate the ongoing support of fellow town officials and the citizens that we serve and protect.
