Description:
While creating the design for our new 2012 Dodge Chargers, the Morton Grove Police Department formed a committee reflective of all levels from the Department. With safety as our primary design concept, the large navy blue graphics on the side of the white car stands out and allows the vehicle to be easily identified as a police car. Being visible in the community helps to deter crime and keep our community safe. “Police” on all sides are outlined in silver reflective material making the vehicle highly visible at night adding to officer safety and presence. The unit number is visible from all angles allowing us to identify our vehicles from both ground and air. With tradition as our second design concept, navy blue was chosen as the traditional color of law enforcement. The color is prevalent in our Department’s traditional uniforms, patches, and 1990’s squad cars. Pride, the third concept, is prevalent with “MGPD”, “Police”, and “Morton Grove” which are visible at all angles showcasing civic pride and professionalism. The graphics on the doors and hood highlight the natural features of the Charger giving the vehicle a unique and professional look. A memorial badge represents Officer Barry Shalin #109, who was killed in the line of duty October 9, 1989. Through the design vision of our committee, we were able to install graphics which promote safety, tradition, and pride within the Morton Grove Police Department.
