Please note that the week before the deadline during business hours is the busiest time for entries. If too many users are on the system, it may cause your entry submission to fail. To prevent rewriting it, save your 100 to 250 words about the vehicle in a Word document before you submit your entry form in case there is a problem.

Which category should I enter my agency’s vehicles in?

If you are entering a standard PATROL VEHICLE (i.e. Crown Vic, Impala, Charger, Tahoe, Explorer), enter it by size, type and location of your agency. For example, the Chicago Police Department’s Crown Victoria would go in the “Municipal Over 50 Officers East” category.

If you are submitting a NON-PATROL VEHICLE, choose the appropriate “Specialty Category” for it, NOT the size and type of agency. For example, the Chicago Police Department’s Command Center vehicle would go in the “Best Support Vehicle, Command Post, CSI Vehicle” category.

Can I enter more than one vehicle?

Yes, you can enter more than one vehicle and more than one category, as long as the vehicle fits that category. These will be separate entry forms, so make sure you have confirmation numbers for all entries. However, keep in mind that the judging is based on the vehicle graphics—not the vehicle itself—so if your agency has Crown Victorias and Impalas with the same graphics, just enter one.

Can I enter more than one category?

Yes, you can enter more than one category. For example, you may enter your Crown Vic in the Municipal Over 50 Officers, West category, and then also enter your SWAT vehicle in the Best SWAT Vehicle category. These will be separate entries, so make sure you have confirmation numbers for all entries.

What do I do if my agency is not a Municipal Agency, Sheriff’s Agency, State or Federal Agency or a College or University Agency?

Enter under the Municipal Agency category under the appropriate size and location.

How do I know whether my agency is in the East or West?

The demarcation is the Mississippi River. If you don’t know whether your agency is on the West or the East of the Mississippi, please see the United States map on the entry form. Red is West and blue is East.

How do I upload photos?

To upload photos to your contest entry, follow these steps:

1. Click the “Browse” button on the file upload box.
2. A file directory will open allowing you to browse your computer hard drive and locate the photos for upload.
3. Find the folder where your photos are located and click "Open." Repeat this process for each photo.

Any digital photo you upload must end in .jpg (Example: frontquarter.jpg) and the file size of the photo must be at least 500KB.

NOTE: If any of your photos can’t be uploaded, you will receive and error message saying the photos did not meet specifications.

How do I take high-resolution photos?

Put your digital camera on the “high-resolution” setting. The file size of the photo should be at least 500 kb. The file format should be .jpg.

How do I know that my entry went through?

When your entry has been submitted successfully, you will receive a confirmation number. Make sure to write this down or print this page for your records and for future reference. If you did not receive a confirmation number, your entry did not go through, and you will have to try again.

If you did receive a confirmation number, you can check back on the website (www.lawandordermag.com) and click on “Vehicle Design People’s Choice Award” to view and vote for your entry. Please allow some time as your entry may need to be reviewed before it is available to the public.

What if the entry form and/or the LAW and ORDER website is not working?

If too many people are trying to submit entries at one time, the system may be overloaded and you may have to try again at a later time. If you have tried more than twice, please contact our system administrator. Please no phone calls.

How do I vote for the People’s Choice Award?

Go to www.lawandordermag.com and click on “Vehicle Design People’s Choice Award.” You can browse all the current entries and vote for your favorite vehicle in each category. Only one vote per person per category, so make sure to choose your favorite.

What are the judges looking for?

Please see the Guidelines section for details.

How will I know if my agency won the contest?

The winners will be published in the August issue of LAW and ORDER magazine, which will come out in the second or third week of August. Please no phone calls.
