| Hello, I am new to the site. I am looking for some information on justifying SUV's for patrol supervisors. Any written policy, general order and what these vehicles are equipped with would be very helpful as I plan on writing a proposal very soon. Thank! Brian

| Make a list of standard junk a patrol officer carries in his everyday vehicle, we have spike strips, fire extinguisher, crowd control equipment-helmets batons, heavy vests, extended range impact weapon, flares, weapons of mass destruction chemical suits and boots, foul weather jacket personal papers and gear, if SWAT or counter sniper their long guns in hard cases, first aid kits and trauma kits, OC water wash bottles, traffic accident rolatape, do not cross rolls of yellow tape, you know the stuff that fits in cron vics. With all that add the supervisor's junk for a command post, extra phones, batteries, maps of city, schools, extra ammo, extra flashlights, mass arrest kits-flexcuffs, cameras, chemical agents, breeching tools, thats why an SUV platform is necessary to accommodate equipment. My city does not like the "buzz" word SUV but we do have them because of the large amount of space for equipment. We don't have written policy but when the stations see the SUV show up it's an automatic supervisor's car. Hope this helps
