Those rubber cushions that collect the road crap are a safety item for rearend collisions. It is going to be a unsafe item when it causes the straps to rot out and the fuel tank falls out of the vehicle. It appears that the rubber that Ford installed on the lower mount holds the water and road salt. Just a FYI to check your older cars.
