It has a curtain air bag that goes the length of the vehicle. Are the side curtain bags able to be turned off and removed so I can access the metal under it? Is there a different style overhead mount for this airbag issue?

Throttle Body

Here is a good one from GM, I have some 2008 Tahoe PPVs starting to experience some transmission delay at shift points. The dealership tells me that the trans is fine but picked up hard codes (check engine light not on) P2119 - throttle body close position. They said the throttle body had carbon build up which caused the plate not to close all the way thus changing ECM readings to compensate by increasing the throttle plate angle. The emissions warranty was not honored stating that it is a maintenance issue. GM knows of this common problem per bulletin PIP4578A DOC ID#2395875. The owners manual do not indicate addressing throttle body routine maintenance. In short clean out throttle body and then send it in so they have to reset the codes.

Battery Problems

Our department had battery problems with our first Tahoe, a 2007 PP model, where we were replacing batteries every 15 to 20 thousand miles. We were unsure what the draw down was being caused by but eventually we added a second battery with a Kussmaul Battery Isolator, Model #091-139-2-12. We routed all emergency equipment to the second battery but now we are only averaging about 12,000 miles before the second battery goes dead.

We now have a second PP Tahoe, a 2009 model and we have already replaced the battery twice in it. It does not have the second battery yet and we need help diagnosing the problem. With all our equipment running we are probably drawing around 125 to 130 amps. If we turn off the emergency equipment and just run the computer, camera and radio we are probably drawing around 90 amps.

Has anyone else had problems with the alternator output? All of our vehicles have the same equipment and we have not had any problems with the Crown Vic or the Charger batteries.

Driver's front side door lock

We are starting to experience door lock inoperabilities on the 2008 PPV Tahoes using the key FOBs. The problem is the lock actuator develops an open circuit causing the mechanism to stick open or stay in the lock position. This problem causes delays in getting in or out quickly and the security of the interior. Anyone else having the same issues? It took the dealership a week to get the part.

PPV Tahoe available wheels

Does anyone know if GM offers any other option for the PPV then the standard steel wheels.
