| Just wondering if any other agencies utilizing the 07 Chevy Impala have experienced intermittent steering lock up. Our 07 Impala has had several times where the Deputy driving reported turning a corner and not being able to steer out of it as the steering locked for a second. Has happened on more than one occasion. Anyone heard of recall conditions on this series?

| We have not had any problems with the steering locking up on our 07 Impala's. Was this problem corrected under warranty?

| It was repaired today. No it was not covered under warranty. The vehicle has 43K miles on so it was out of warranty. My suggestion to all who read this, if your steering acts up even once. Take it to the dealership for warranty repair. Save your agency about $600. The problem was a cog in the steering mechanism was stripped?? I havent read the dealership invoice yet for the exact description.

| The only steering issue we have had so far is a knocking noise in the steering column which was due to a faulty intermediate shaft. There was a TSB issued by GM back in October regarding this problem. Apparently there is an issue with this part affecting several 2006 and 2007 GM W-body cars such as the Impala and Grand Prix.

| The Intermediate Steering Shaft issue goes all the way back to the 03 models, was told by my dealer that because of this issue, they were "warranted" up to 70,000 miles. I took one in with 59,000 miles on the car, and was told that there had been a change and now they were only covering them up to 50,000 miles, EXCEPT if it was associated with a specific pick-up truck.

| I had the same issue last month on an 06' Impala except the steering did not lock up. There was a definite pop felt in the steering wheel accompanied by a audible thump. This would happen about 15 to 20 degrees either side of center steer. Since the car has only 8000 miles it was definitely covered under warranty. The dealer explained that this was an engineering issue with the subframe that occurred sporadically since 03'. According to my records and shop supervisor, we have had the same issue with an 03' and an 05'. both had the subframes replaced under warranty.
