1. How Important is Warranty Recovery?
Location: Renaissance Ballroom Plaza, Majestic A-B
Warranty is one of the most important aspects of our job. While applying for warranty may be a time consuming process it is vital to the future performance of the equipment we purchase, from computer, parts and equipment, the OEM's look at warranty as opportunities to improve on already highly efficient equipment. The more reliable a product is the more likely you will continue purchasing from that vendor. It is also about the money, how much will depend on your ability to work with your OEM and Vendor in setting up a warranty management program within your organization. The business of fleet management includes understanding warranty reimbursement and how it will benefit our operations.
Class objectives:
- Learn how warranty recovery can help lower equipment costs.
- Regardless if you run your own internal fleet repair shop or you contract out your fleet repairs, your warranty recovery on work orders should equal between 5 to 10% of your equipment capital costs, if you are not seeing this, you need to be asking why.
- Contracting out warranty recovery management.
- $200K dollars a year in warranty reimbursements is not unreasonable?

Fleet Maintenance, Should It Be Contracted Out Or Done Internally, Should There Be A Difference In The Level Of Service You Receive?
Location: Renaissance Ballroom Plaza, Majestic D-E
With today’s economy, everyone is looking closer at Fleet maintenance costs. Some are asking should we contract out our fleet department. Will that save money or just improve customer service? We will go over a Request for Proposals (RFP), bid to outsource the fleet department and compare that to what your internal operation is providing to you. The fleet department works for you and you should see no difference in the service you receive, regardless if your operation is contracted out or not. Fleet maintenance is normally the first department that is looked at to compete in a competitive bid process, some loose others win. The key with this process is whether or not you consider your operation a business. If not come and learn why you might be in trouble and if you have considered outsourcing your fleet department come and learn how that might or might not benefit you.
Class Objectives:
- What is in a RFP and how should your current fleet maintenance operation be the same?
- What contracts does your Fleet department manage for you currently (fuel, parts, buildings, custodial services EST.)?
- RFP's are not four letter words and can help add efficiencies with in your operation. You should be running your department as if it was a private company with in your agency. Improve efficiencies or look for a new job.
- As part of the fleet team, what do we owe our customers?
Presenter:
- Mr. Bill DeRousse, Fleet Superintendant for the City of Everett and Everett Transit, Everett WA

What is Energy Independence? Behavior Modification.
Location: Renaissance Ballroom Plaza, Landmark 4
Energy Xtreme’s presentation will explore exactly why the energy industry is often resistant to strides towards its desired outcomes. Adopting the necessary changes for the industry to be more successful can be difficult and Energy Xtreme will discuss the challenges, including the biggest hurdle - changing human behavior.
Energy Xtreme will examine the possibilities of taking a more collaborative approach between producers, management, employees, distributors, government agencies and consumers to achieve the industry’s ultimate goals.
Although resources are becoming more scarce and the limitations of an aging electrical infrastructure have become more apparent, there is one concept upon which most can agree: there is very low hanging fruit to be picked, both within industry operations and by the end user; addressing this should be the most logical first step in obtaining better utilization of existing assets, better resource management, decreasing consumer side load and lessening environmental impact by increasing organic production.
By attending this class, you'll learn:
- Discuss how the energy industry can come together and solve issues that often block progress in the industry.
- Examine how a more collaborative approach needs to be taken between producers, management, employees, distributors and government agencies to make the industry successful.
- Identify why one of the biggest problems is simply a fundamental behavioral change.
- Discuss how the procurement of raw materials, processing, marketing and distribution, protocol and politics, can pose a big challenge to the energy industry.
Presenter:
- Mr. Henry Wischmeyer, Director of Sales and Marketing, Energy Xtreme
