Segway has released their new three-wheel product, the
Segway® SE-3 Patroller, available only
to public safety customers. It has a base MSRP of $11,999. The full-featured
SE-3 Patroller is designed to meet the specific needs of the public safety
market and is larger with more public presence than previous models.
Manager of Global Patrol & Government Business, Chip MacDonald, stated, “Segway is the world’s leading
provider of green personal transportation and its Segway Patroller is the indisputable #1 solution
for police and private security markets. Customers know our reputation for
reliability and technological advances. This new vehicle is another option from
a company they can trust, a natural extension of Segway’s reputation for
building a high-quality vehicle that can go anywhere that people can walk.”
“When compared to our two-wheel Segway Patroller, our new
three-wheel product can stand on its own with no rider and carry a considerable
patrol equipment payload. It is an ideal match for missions that require a
larger vehicle, which can display a more obvious security presence without a
rider aboard, or that require a rider to frequently mount and dismount the
vehicle during a patrol,” MacDonald added.
Features and Benefits
Riders can benefit from the advantages of a powerful
rear-wheel-drive product that features enhanced traction capability and can
easily travel across uneven surfaces, up hills and ramps, as well as through
doorways. Its anti-rollover technology provides stability and the throttle
reset protects against unintended acceleration.
Equally as important, SE-3
Patroller riders can travel up to 20 miles on
a single charge, and the multiple rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries can be
charged at any 110-volt or 220V standard
outlet or topped off at any time.
Replacement tool-less hot swappable batteries can be quickly swapped out for
continuous use and the SE-3 does not need to return to a fixed location to be

attached standalone video cameras and has facilities for charging a phone,
tablet or accessories.
Other available features include a headlight, brake light,
siren, lockable storage, and rugged Whelen® emergency lights. The SE-3’s 4.3-inch
