Going East!
Police Fleet Expo
August 13-16, 2012
by Dennis Tucker, PFE Chair
Join us in Charlotte, N.C., home to NASCAR, from Aug. 13 to 16, 2012 for the Police Fleet Expo (PFE). This is our first time out East and I can’t think of a more exciting and vibrant city in this part of the country to host our Expo. Charlotte not only provides excellent facilities, but also gives us the opportunity to organize events at various venues to take advantage of everything Charlotte has to offer.
Since 2004, police fleet professionals attended the Police Fleet Expo to network with their colleagues to be at the forefront and learn what’s new for police fleets. PFE provides the venue for police fleet professionals and fleet personnel with police responsibilities who are eager to improve and develop their skills, and who need a dedicated police conference to address their short- and long-term needs. Budgets continue to tighten, the introduction of new police vehicles continues, environmental regulations continue to expand and today we have technology your predecessor only dreamed of—therefore it’s more important than ever to have a one-stop shop to improve your skills, learn what’s new and network with colleagues.
You can expect more than 15 hours of timely and valuable educational sessions, plus an exhibit hall that’s open for 8.5 hours, offering aisle after aisle of the most up-to-date equipment, technology and services providing you the tools for doing your very best at your job.
Educational sessions include individual classes from Chevrolet, Chrysler and Ford, which provide timely information on police vehicles, service issues, up-fitting trends and pertinent programs that meet your needs. Class topics are selected based on recommendations by attendees and presentations are provided by your colleagues, professional speakers and government representatives.
Whether you are a fleet veteran or have just been assigned to your position, the variety of classes will be sure to spark your interest and provide you with valuable information you can use in your daily tasks. After the vehicle manufacturers present their topics on the first day, you’ll be taking notes on classes such as Fleet Managers Liability; Fleet Management Operations: What Do I Need to Know?; Alternatively Fueled Police Vehicles; Tire Forensics; Preparing an RFP; and New Lighting and Decal Technology and How to Use It; as well as many others. Plus, there’s always the crowd favorite—Agency Networking Sessions for you to share ideas and identify solutions with fellow colleagues.
In addition to structured classes, you’ll have 8.5 hours to roam more than 90,000 square feet of vendor displays where you’ll be able to examine new equipment, discover new services and talk to vendors. What a great way to find some cost saving ideas. put a plan together to replace outdated equipment, inquire about outsourcing, and improve your department efficiency, all in one place.
Plans are also shaping-up for special events and after-hour activities to expand your networking opportunities and to take in the Charlotte area. Not all learning has to be restricted to a classroom or exhibit hall!
The registration fee of $159 provides a great deal for your money, and entry to the Exhibit Hall is FREE with department identification.
Please come out and support the most valuable conference committed to police fleet professionals. Contact me at DTucker@hendonpub.com, to share ideas and comments. Hope to see you in Charlotte!
